As part of the new site design we are using Google Calendar to display the training schedule. If you use Google Apps or you Google Calendar you can automatically display the SEQA calendar into your own Google Calendar.

The most popular email client amongst members though is Outlook and if you use Outlook 2007 or the latest Outlook 2010 then you can also display the latest SEQA training calendars directly side by side your main work calendar. This allows you to schedule work appointments around training events and easily copy training dates across to your main calendar.

Outlook periodically checks the Google Calendar for updates, and if any are found, they are downloaded to the calendar copy in Outlook.

SEQA maintains 4 separate calendars for each type of training so you can use the following procedure to load up just one calendar or all four, it’s up to you.

These are the addresses you will need to enter at STEP 2

Procedure

Step 1

Open Outlook, Click Tools > Account Settings…

Step 2

In the account settings pop-up Click Internet Calendars. Next Click New… then Paste the ICAL address for the calendar you want to add into the white box and Click Add.

Step 3

Assign a name to your Calendar Folder, and an optional description. Check the box under Update Limit

Note: Update Limit will just keep your Outlook from spamming the calendar server needlessly

Step 4

Open your Outlook Calendar and look for the newly Created Google Calendar on the left sidebar. Check the Box to display it next to your existing Calendar.

Viola!

Now you can see both your Outlook Calendar and your Google Calendar simultaneously. Please remember that this gives you access to “read only” the SEQA Calendars so you won’t be able to edit or delete anything from within Outlook.
